Bootcamp Pacing Guide
Field Experience — Fall 2026
This guide covers both the daily section and the every-other-day section. Phases are defined by activities and deliverables completed, not by calendar days — so both sections move through the same content at their own pace.
Core Pacing Principle
Phases unlock in sequence based on completion, not the calendar. A student is done with Phase 1 when they've completed all 5 Phase 1 activities — not after X days. This means the daily section will outpace the EOD section, and that's fine. Both sections reach the same milestones; they just get there at different speeds. Never hold the daily section back to keep pace with the EOD section.
1
Professional Identity & Course Launch
Daily: ~5 periods
EOD: ~8 periods
1
Begin With the End in Mind Day 1
Capstone preview, syllabus, contract, website walkthrough, career cluster overview, professional mindset discussion. Plan for 1 full period. This sets the entire tone — don't rush it.
2
Career & Self-Assessment Submit
Employability skills pre-assessment (10 skills, 1–4 scale), career interest reflection, goal-setting. 1 period. Students submit their reflection to the site.
3
Professional Brand Submit
Google yourself activity, social media audit discussion, email signature build. 1 period. Students submit their email signature text to the site.
4
Resume Workshop Submit
1–2 periods. Day 1: instruction + in-class draft. Day 2: peer review + teacher conferences. Students submit Google Drive link to final resume.
5
Explore & Apply Submit
Browse job menu on site, employer scavenger hunt, teacher conversations about placement preferences, submit application. 1 period minimum. The application submission starts the employer paperwork clock — prioritize this.
Daily Section
~5 class periods
Roughly 1 week from start
Every-Other-Day Section
~8 class periods
Roughly 2.5 weeks from start
Interview & Placement Window (Ongoing — Starts During Phase 1)
Interviews can happen at any point, including during Phase 1 if an employer reaches out immediately. Do not hold students back from interviewing because they haven't completed Phase 2. The mock interview in Phase 2 prepares them — but real interviews don't wait.
Use flexible class time between Phase 2 and Phase 3 to accommodate interviews that are actively being scheduled. Some students may finish all bootcamp phases before having a confirmed placement; others may have their placement confirmed mid-Phase 2. Both are fine. Phase 4 requires placement confirmation before Launch.

2
Interview Prep
Daily: ~4 periods
EOD: ~6 periods
1
Elevator Pitch Submit
1–2 periods. Day 1: instruction + write + workshop with partners. Day 2: record video. Students submit video link or written script to site.
2
Interview Skills
1 period. STAR method breakdown, practice scenarios, body language, professional appearance. Students mark complete on site after participating.
3
Mock Interview Submit
1 period. Step 1: whole-class peer speed interviews — draw questions from the interview question bank. Step 2: formal 1-on-1 mock interview with a peer, community partner, administrator, or HR professional, scored on the mock interview feedback form (print copies beforehand). Students confirm completion on site with a note about their feedback. Note: scheduling community partners takes advance planning — contact 2+ weeks before this phase.
4
Interview Improvement Plan Submit
30–45 min. Students review mock interview feedback and write 2–3 specific improvement areas with action steps. Submit to site.
Daily Section
~4 class periods
~2 weeks from start of bootcamp
Every-Other-Day Section
~6 class periods
~4 weeks from start of bootcamp
3
Workplace Readiness
Daily: ~3 periods
EOD: ~4 periods
1
Workplace Dilemma Stations
1 period (~90 min). Small groups rotate through 15 stations spanning all 7 clusters, each with a realistic scenario. Debrief 2–3 as a class. Special emphasis on confidentiality. Students mark complete on site. Print physical station cards from dilemma-scenarios.html before class (Print Stations button).
2
Employability Skills Simulation
1 period. Team challenges, case studies on conflict resolution and receiving feedback. Focus on adaptability, problem-solving, and teamwork in workplace context. Students mark complete on site.
3
Post-Assessment Submit
30–45 min. Re-rate all 10 employability skills. Compare to Phase 1 baseline. Short reflection on growth. Submit to site.
4
Placement Confirmed Required for Phase 4
Student confirms placement employer name and start date on site. This is required to unlock Phase 4. Students who don't yet have placement confirmation continue in class but cannot launch until confirmed.
Daily Section
~3 class periods
~3 weeks from start of bootcamp
Every-Other-Day Section
~4 class periods
~6 weeks from start of bootcamp
4
Launch
Daily: 1–2 periods
EOD: 1–2 periods
1
Goal Conference
One-on-one with teacher, 5–10 min each. While waiting for their conference, students work on their internship plan. Consider blocking a dedicated period for conferences so you can give full attention to each student.
2
Internship Plan of Success Submit
Written in class. Schedule, goals, plan for 60 hours. Draft professional intro/thank you email to placement supervisor. Submit to site.
3
Launch Day Launch Card
Student writes their #1 goal and clicks Submit & Launch. Their Launch Card generates and lives on their dashboard permanently. Consider doing this as a class moment — everyone launches together when ready. Requires placement confirmed (Phase 3 #4) to complete.
Daily Section
~1–2 periods
~3.5 weeks from start
Every-Other-Day Section
~1–2 periods
~7 weeks from start
Mock Interview Prep
Recruiting community partners for mock interviews requires 2+ weeks of lead time. Reach out to HR contacts, administrators, and business partners well before Phase 2 begins. Even 3–4 interviewers can rotate through a class.
Application Urgency
The whole reason applications happen at the end of Phase 1 (not Phase 2 or 3) is to give employers maximum time to complete hiring documents before students need to start. Treat this deadline seriously.
When Students Interview Early
If an employer schedules an interview during Phase 1 or early Phase 2, let the student go. A real interview beats any mock. Document it and have the student complete the Phase 2 mock interview activity as practice after — not a prerequisite before.
Tracking Progress
View each student's bootcamp phase completion from Teacher Hub → Student Progress. The dashboard reflects real-time task completions from Supabase. No paper tracking needed.
